Recipe of the week

I am going to switch things up just a bit. I am going to do a recipe for the week instead of a workout of the day.

This weeks recipe is going to be pretty simple, yet extremely Healthy. The Spinach provides Iron, the strawberries are rich in vitamin C as well as others. The dressings are your choice. Option 1 allows you to control how much sugar is added. Depending on the size of the bag of spinach this will cook for around 4 people. Enjoy!

Happy New Year

What are your New Years Resolutions?

This could be a year for change or it could be a year to start something new, but if you’re not careful that something could end before January is even over. Be sure to set up a plan to attain your new goals. Find the appropriate people to help you attain your goals, maybe that is a coach or a good friend, be sure to start small and work up to your goal. Going all out for the first day or two will likely cause burn out in a matter of days.

We wish you the best of luck in the coming year. True Performance Cycling would love the opportunity to help you finish what you started this year!

Morning Workouts

I believe that there are a lot of athletes that struggle with morning workouts. Maybe they aren’t a morning person, or they can’t seem to get in bed before 10 pm, or they have a crying baby to take care of. No matter what the reason there is little argument that the hardest workout to get in is the early morning ones. Is there anything that motivates you to get out of bed? Is it easier when its not 20 degrees outside? I know I struggle most getting out of bed when I know its going to be insanely cold, my food isn’t ready to go, I am out of coffee, and the first thing I have to do is my least favorite lift… Power Clean and Jerk.

Morning workouts are absolutely necessary if you are going to lift and have a quality ride in the same day. Most days when I try to lift a short time before my ride I struggle to meet the expectations I had for the ride. If you ride before you lift and have very little time between the two you will never hit your weight goals. The best thing to do in the morning is lift because it is likely the shortest workout of the day which means you don’t have to get up as early. Getting the timing right and getting everything in each day all contribute to making you the cyclist that you want to be.
Next time your alarm clock goes off at 5 am think about what you could accomplish in that time if you refuse the urge to slam your hand on the snooze button.
